This is much shorter than the usual recap, and covers two episodes 🙂
Episode 5 of Nirvana in Fire 2 recap:
Lin Xi, Ping Jing, and Yuan Qi follow General Ji and Uncle Yuan in escorting Magistrate Zhang back to the Capital, when they are ambushed by Duan. Ping Jing exposes that General Ji had been colluding with Duan – that’s why Duan first chose to kill off Leader Qian, and not Magistrate Zhang. General Ji had been threatening Magistrate Zhang en route, resulting in Magistrate Zhang’s continued silence. General Ji wanted the Chang Lin army to lose the battle at Ganzhou – then, the next line of defence would be his barracks in Qizhou, and he would be able to gain merit.
Fortunately, Ping Jing had anticipated Duan’s attack, and had moved Magistrate Zhang away. As Duan tries to escape, the Chang Lin army led by Qian Xue arrives.
Back in the capital, we are introduced to Yuan Qi’s mother, Lady Yu. She warns him against interfering with affairs, and advises him to keep a low profile.
Minister Song is led into the prison. Evidently Puyang Ying knows what is happening in court, and indirectly offers his opinion to the Empress. This is not lost on her, and he notes her annoyance at the Chang Lin manor again.
Back in Chang Lin manor, Ping Jing is still whiny that he basically got “tricked” by his father, when his father already knew what happened. ahahaha.
Episode 6 of Nirvana in Fire 2 recap:
Ping Jing and Ping Zhang note the discrepancies between General Ji and Minister Song’s statement, and suspect something amiss. Duan is discovered to have escaped the prison.
Qian Xue brings Lin Xi to the Chang Lin manor, and meets Puyang Ying and Commander Xun on the way. General Xun is in charge of the imperial guards, and he is the last disciple of Commander Meng. This is how Qian Xue knows him, as she is the grandniece of Commander Meng, and they were both taught by him. Commander Xun is searching the city for Duan, and is suspicious of Puyang Ying as well.
Minister Xun seeks assistance from the Empress, and on his return to his manor, is shocked to find Duan in his room. Duan hides when Commander Xun arrives to visit Minster Xun, his uncle. But the scorched handprint that Duan had left behind does not escape Commander Xun’s notice.
When Ping Jing and Ping Zhang enter the palace, the Emperor treats Ping Zhang very kindly. Ping Jing runs off to play with the Crown Prince, and the young Yuan Shi is very happy to see him. The Empress is annoyed that Ping Jing doesn’t observe the manners and rules around Yuan Shi, who just treats him as a fun older brother. This earns Ping Jing a stern glare from Ping Zhang, who apologises on their behalf.
