Ep 30 Recap of Nirvana in Fire 2:
Even Uncle Yuan is sad to see Ping Jing leave, and he follows Xiao Ting Sheng to court to bid farewell to the King. Minister Xun goads XTS into voicing his disagreement over the Imperial Army, painting XTS as being unreasonable. Ping Jing holds his tongue seeing his father being under attack.
Empress Dowager Xun enters the court, making a fuss and accusing Xiao Ting Sheng of being greedy for power. XTS is furious at the accusations, and unable to handle the chaos in court, the King leaves angrily.
Xiao Ting Sheng recognises the danger behind having the imperial army. Commander Xun worries for the Chang Lin manor as well, but XTS confides that he was unable to hold his anger at the accusations as well. Commander Xun understands that this was targeted against the Chang Lin manor.
Back in the palace, the Empress instigates the King that XTS is undermining his power. Under the influence of the Empress Dowager Xun and Minister Xun, the King starts to harbour suspicion against Xiao Ting Sheng. He is convinced to start the imperial army, and the two Xun seniors are relieved.
XTS sends Ping Jing off, telling him not to worry, and advises him to pay a visit to Langya mountain before going back. XTS tells Ping Jing that he no longer needs to wear the betrothal locket, and trusts that Ping Jing can decide for himself.
Ping Jing visits his nephew and Qian Xue at Langya Hall, and is informed that Lin Xi had decided to set off in search of new medicines. Qian Xue advises him to let go of the past, saying that Ping Zhang purely wanted Ping Jing to live for himself.
Uncle Yuan pats Xiao Ting Sheng’s back as he downs his medicine. XTS worries that the imperial army would threaten the security of the country – to build a new army under the direct command of the King requires loyalty to the King, and this cannot be cultivated hastily.
Minister Xun believes in Commander Xun’s competence, and tells Empress Dowager Xun that there is no need to worry about Ping Jing at the moment.
Lin Chen smiles that Ping Jing has grown up. Qian Xue compliments that Ping Jing’s sword skills have improved. As Ping Jing leaves, Lin Chen (the old master of Langya Hall) passes him a pouch, telling him to open it only when he is back in Lanzhou.
The guards greet Ping Jing in his new post, and carefully looks over the military reports that he had missed during his visit. Yuan Qi cannot figure out the intentions of Great Yu, and Ping Jing decides to go to Mountain Mo to check out the situation personally.
At night, Ping Jing opens the note from Langya Hall. The note states that at the 10th month, there would be an eclipse at the northern border – with the chaos that ensues during such a phenomenon, this is an omen that that Great Yu would be attacking then.
Yuan Qi meets with a hidden man.
The King is unwilling to attend court, and shares with Commander Xun that he is frustrated with Empress Dowager Xun’s interference. But Commander Xun reminds the King to think of the Emperor’s last words, to trust Xiao Ting Sheng.
An envoy from Great Yu visits the northern border, and who wants to meet personally with Ping Jing. They worry that there is a trap, but upon hearing that this has precedence, Ping Jing decides to admit the meeting. He decides to meet at Northern Mo in 3 days.
