Ep 45 recap of Nirvana in Fire 2:
Yuan Qi is happy to receive news that Di Ming has successfully gotten control of the army in Dong Hu.
At Langya Hall, Qian Xue is busy preparing for Ping Jing and Lin Xi’s marriage. Ping Jing is shocked by the news of Minister Xun’s assassination, and notes it with deep concern, knowing that it might have to do with the letter he had sent.
Pei’er writes down whatever she knows for General Yue, including a map of the Laiyang mansion. They can’t figure out where he might have hidden the assassin.
Min’er informs An Ru about the presence of a female guest in the Laiyang mansion, and cries that Yuan Qi is not the nice man that they had once known. Immediately, both of them register this with suspicion.
Unable to tolerate it any longer, An Ru charges in the room to confront Yuan Qi, only to find him meeting with Lady Qin. An Ru is furious, and says that she will tell Commander Xun everything that she knows. Yuan Qi merely replies that he will not kill her, but will make sure that she never sees Commander Xun or enter the palace.
The things that Lady Qin wanted are packed into boxes, with Lady Qin herself hidden in one of the boxes. Yuan Qi sends the boxes out with An Ru, and confidently says that An Ru will not say a word. (I hope he doesn’t mean this literally…)
General Yue and Pan tail the carriage, saying that they must catch the female assassin alive. But once the convoy arrives outside of the capital, Yuan Qi orders the boxes to be set on fire, killing Lady Qin. Yuan Qi misleads An Ru to believe that he did that to avenge Minister Xun (when he merely waned to eliminate Lady Qin’s connection to him). An Ru looks on, scared.
From afar, General Yue witnesses this sight, and is filled with suspicion and worry. In the palace, Yuan Qi and Commander Xun report to the King that the female assassin had not been caught. The King is dismayed and very discouraged. (The young King seems to be a genuinely nice person!)
The King asks Commander Xun to assist him in a matter.
General Yue says that he needs to try to find an opportunity to speak to the King. When he enters the palace, he joins the other court officials to wait for the King’s arrival. But another minister tells General Yue that the court ministers must discuss about the matter regarding Dong Hai first, and Yuan Qi is in charge of reporting the findings to the King.
The King asks Commander Xun if he did wrong by banishing Chang Lin manor. He is also adamant that no matter what Empress Dowager Xun says, he will not allow her to influence him. But at the same time, the King doesn’t want to order Ping Jing back under the watchful eyes of the ministers – instead, he asks Commander Xun to help him deliver a letter to Ping Jing.
General Yue concludes that Yuan Qi’s final goal has a bigger plan. The next day, he seeks out to find Commander Xun, but Xun has already left the capital.
He Chang reports to Yuan Qi that “arrangements are done”. As General Yue greets another minister, they notice Di Ming entering the capital. Di Ming is welcomed in Laiyang mansion.
Di Ming and Yuan Qi discusses that the Spring Hunt is the best time to bring their people in, as there is a reason for the security to be more lax since the King isn’t in the capital. General Yue also suspects that this is their plan, and Yuan Qi has control over Di Ming.
